Much of this has to do with the patient's attitude toward himself, his physician, the world as a whole. Cousins again and again emphasizes the importance of having a positive attitude, a hopeful and joyful outlook on life. He especially warns against the dangers of panicing and subjecting oneself to undue stress. He as a highly curious, and also very social person knows many of the major heart- researchers personally. This work also thus tells about his meeting with, and learning from them. He stresses again and again the importance of the physician caring for the patient. He speaks about how many technicians of medicine fail their patients by ignoring their 'human' side. Cousins comes across as an extremely likeable and friendly person, one whose aim is to truly help others. He is also a very good writer, and the work flows and is a pleasurable read.?The lessons he teaches here have become 'commonplace truths' though they were less so at the time of his writing. I suspect many readers of this work will come away from it with an improved sense of the proper way to deal with illness.\n\nPublished in: NEWYORK\n\nPhysical description: 302 pages ; 22 cm","bookEdition":null,"offers":{"@type":"Offer","availability":"https:\/\/schema.org\/OutOfStock"}}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":9,"item":{"@context":"https:\/\/schema.org","@type":"Book","name":"The healing herbs : the ultimate guide to the curative power of nature's medicines \/ by Michael Castleman ; medical reviewer, Sheldon Saul Hendler.","author":"Castleman, M.; Hendler, Sheldon S.","isbn":null,"publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"Rodale Press"},"datePublished":"1991","inLanguage":"English","description":"Introduction : Ancient remedies and modern medicine -- From magic to medicine : 5,000 years of herbal healing -- Tempest in a teapot : are healing herbs safe? -- Storing and preparing healing herbs -- How to obtain healing herbs -- 100 healing herbs -- Prevention and treatment : a fast-action guide to using the healing herbs. \r\n \tAbstract\tContains the latest developments in the use of plants for medicinal purposes--remedies for over 200 conditions and diseases.\n\nPublished in: Emmaus, Pa\n\nPhysical description: xi, 436 pages : illustrations ; 24 cm","bookEdition":null,"offers":{"@type":"Offer","availability":"https:\/\/schema.org\/OutOfStock"}}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":10,"item":{"@context":"https:\/\/schema.org","@type":"Book","name":"The healing path.","author":"Barasch, M.","isbn":null,"publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"PENGUIN BOOK"},"datePublished":"1995","inLanguage":"English","description":"Other Systems of Medicine\n\nPublished in: New York\n\nPhysical description: 431 pages ; 20 cm","bookEdition":null,"offers":{"@type":"Offer","availability":"https:\/\/schema.org\/OutOfStock"}}}]}
